League: South Division
Augusta Athletics
The Augusta Athletics are preparing for an exciting season as the team enters its fourth year competing in the Chippewa River Baseball League. What began just a few seasons ago has quickly grown into a strong program built on competitive baseball, community pride, and a commitment to bringing people together at the ballpark.
Now heading into year four, the Athletics are looking to build on that momentum with a talented roster that blends experienced returning players with exciting new additions.
Returning Talent Sets the Tone
The Athletics return a strong core of players who have helped shape the identity of the team over the past several seasons. Their experience in the CRBL provides leadership both on and off the field and will be critical as the team navigates another competitive league schedule.
Returning players bring stability to the lineup and pitching rotation while continuing to set the standard for effort, teamwork, and the winning culture that has become a hallmark of Augusta baseball.
New Talent Brings Fresh Energy
Alongside the returning core, several new players will join the roster this summer, bringing fresh talent, depth, and excitement to the Athletics lineup. These additions will help strengthen the team in key areas and create new opportunities offensively and defensively.
The blend of veteran leadership and new energy should give the Athletics the versatility needed to compete week in and week out throughout the CRBL season.
Augusta to Host the CRBL All-Star Game
One of the highlights of the upcoming season will be Augusta hosting the 2024 CRBL All-Star Game, welcoming the league’s top players and fans from across the region. The event will showcase the best of the Chippewa River Baseball League while shining a spotlight on Augusta’s passion for baseball and community involvement.
Hosting the All-Star Game is a tremendous honor and reflects the growing reputation of the Athletics organization and the support the team receives from the Augusta community.
Year Four and Still Building
As the Athletics enter their fourth season, the mission remains the same—play competitive baseball, bring the community together, and continue building something special in Augusta.
With a strong roster, an exciting schedule, and the opportunity to host the CRBL’s biggest event of the summer, the 2026 season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet for the Augusta Athletics.
Baseball is back in Augusta—and year four might be the best one yet.

Osseo Merchants
The Osseo Merchants endured a rollercoaster regular season in the CRBL, ultimately falling short of the 2025 CRBL playoffs. However, they bounced back impressively in the WBA postseason, showcasing grit and resilience.
In a thrilling opener, the Merchants edged out the Cadott Red Sox in a true nail-biter that came down to the final out. They then battled through significant injuries to defeat the Wisconsin Rapids Redhawks, securing a spot in the State Championship game. There, they pushed the River Falls Fighting Fish to the limit but came up just one run short in an 8-7 heartbreaker.
Looking ahead, the Merchants’ core lineup and pitching staff remain largely intact, providing a strong foundation for the upcoming season. The team is particularly excited to welcome versatile utility player Will Thibodeau (UT), a proven talent with all-league experience. A few additional roster spots are still being finalized, but the Merchants are poised for another competitive run
We would like to thank all of our fans and sponsors for their volunteer efforts and donations throughout the years. Hope to see you all at the ballpark!Â

Cadott Red Sox
In 2025, the Red Sox were a dominant force in the CRBL for the first time since the early 1980’s. The team fired on all cylinders and rolled to a league best 17-3 record. The Sox scored a CRBL best 9.65 runs per game and allowed only 2.95 runs per game. They entered the WBA as the number 3 seed and made their 2nd consecutive Final 8 appearance.
Cadott looks to remain a strong force in the CRBL in 2026. They will return most of their roster including all 10 of their all-stars from the 2025 squad.
Offensively the Sox led the league in both batting average (.359) and home runs (16) a season ago. In the outfield league MVP Luke Erickson (.474 avg, 27 h, 3 hr, 6 2b, 24 RBI, 25 r, 5 sb, 1.294 ops) will be patrolling centerfield again this season. Erickson also won his first All CRBL Award in 2025. The two corner spots will be manned by All CRBL Honorable Mention Logan Burzynski (.453 avg, 34 h, 2 hr, 5 2b, 25 RBI, 17 r) and All-star Jack Redwine (.373 avg, 25 h, 6 2b, 1 3b, 20 RBI, 22 r). The trio combined for 5 home runs, 17 doubles, 69 RBIs, and 72 runs while playing a combined 57 out of 60 possible games last season.
On the infield slick fielding Carter Hesselman (.318 avg, 4 2b, 17 RBI, 21 r) returns at shortstop. Hesselman had a banner season in 2025 winning his first All CRBL Award and a Gold Glove Award while playing all 20 games. First baseman Sam Feck mashed his way to his first All CRBL Award hitting .465 with a league leading 4 home runs and a 1.400 OPS this past season. Leadoff man Jack Kein (.356 avg, .524 obp, 17 r) will be back at second base. Three time all-star Chad Kron (2 hr, 16 r) will be back to man the hot corner. Injuries in 2025 forced Cole Bakkum play almost exclusively at DH. Bakkum responded by making the all-star team hitting .342 with 2 home runs, 5 doubles, 19 RBIs and 22 runs. A healthy 2026 season will allow him to play infield, outfield, and pitch. Cadott is excited to have Cole Perlberg play a full season around the infield for them as well in 2026.
Behind the plate the Sox are led by team captain Jonah Hanson. Hanson hit .383 with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, and 14 runs while starting his 3rd consecutive all-star game at catcher. Zac Merritt will take over the back up catcher duties this year, a season after leading the team in hitting with a .520 average.
An already strong pitching rotation will add a little more depth in 2026. Fresh off his first All CRBL Award Gio Basile (4-0 record, 34 k, 31.2 inn, 6 er) returns to help anchor the rotation. Five time all-star Zack Thiesse (5-1 record, 45.1 inn, 2.98 era) will remain a dominant force for the Sox. Lefties Warren Bowe and Jack Gabler and righty Jalen Pascal will be back in the fold as well. Former rookie of the year Henry Wilkinson will be back full time this season after limited action last season. Free agent pick up Chase Watkins figures to pitch some big innings for the Sox as well.
The Red Sox would thank all of their sponsors and fans. The support that you give us is incredible. We can’t wait to see everyone down at the field again this summer!
